# RM 620 widening will affect these familiar local properties

The planned RM 620 improvements at Anderson Mill Road and El Salido Parkway will change both the roadway and the businesses along it.

I reviewed the project information and 2025 public tax rolls to identify affected properties within WTCMUD1. **The seven locations I identified have a combined assessed value of $22,529,215.**

The dollar amounts are assessed values from the tax rolls, not projected tax losses or acquisition payments. The actual tax impact depends on how much of each property is acquired, applicable exemptions, and whether businesses relocate within the District.

**The overall project affects 25 businesses**

TxDOT’s February 2026 Final Environmental Assessment identifies **25 business displacements and approximately 32 acres of additional right-of-way** across the full project area. It identifies **no residential displacements**.

**What the road project includes**

The project runs approximately **1.2 miles along RM 620, from just south of Foundation Road to Little Elm Trail**.

The central change is an elevated bypass with **one lane in each direction** through the Anderson Mill and El Salido intersections. Through traffic will be able to pass over the traffic signals, while ground-level lanes serve the intersections and nearby properties.

The plans also include:

- Turnarounds and additional turn lanes.

- Changes to driveways and business access.

- A median separating opposing traffic.

- Walking and bicycling paths, generally 10 feet wide where space allows.

**Getting to businesses will change**

The divided roadway will change some familiar driving routes. At some properties, drivers will need to turn with traffic and use a turnaround or intersection to head in the opposite direction.

TxDOT estimates about two additional minutes for some of these access trips. The project’s intended benefit is faster overall travel through the corridor by allowing through traffic to bypass the two signals. **The construction timeline**

Environmental review was completed in **February 2026**. The August 2025 wildlife review included in the final assessment lists a proposed **mid- to late-2029 construction start** , with approximately **two years of construction**. That is the planning schedule in the reviewed documents; a more recent construction date has not been confirmed.
